Tom Parker published his L'Eglise-Clinet 2017 tasting note and score from the Southwold tasting earlier this month. He gave the vintage a score of 18.5, the highest on the day.

Tasting note - Tasted blind. Deep ruby colour. Earthy, leathery spices and rich red fruit on the nose. Underneath there is darker cassis and hints of camphor. The palate is bold and structured, driven by chewy and mouth-coating tannins. Tightly coiled, there is a dense ball of ripe dark fruit at the core waiting to burst forth. Driven, long finish with excellent potential. Constantly improving in the glass, it will need patience. (TP)

The Right Bank scored top scores on the day, with Parker saying the Pomerols 'felt both fuller and softer than their neighbours'. He also added that the Left Bank didn't have 'the same peaks' as the Right.
